Making NDIS claims as a self-manager

The new deadlines

  • From 15 October 2026, claims made more than 90 days after a support get extra checks and may be held for up to 28 days.
  • From 1 December 2026, claims must be made within 90 days of the support. Until then, the limit is 2 years.

If you have older claims, make them before 1 December.

How to make a claim

  1. Get the invoice or timesheet after you receive the support. You can't claim before the support is delivered.
  2. Log in to the my NDIS portal, the myplace portal or the my NDIS app.
  3. Enter who you are paying, the date, the support category, the amount and a description.
  4. Upload the invoice, even if it is not asked for.
  5. Submit. Payment usually reaches your account in about 2 business days.
  6. Pay your provider, if you have not already.

Claim faster with Claim Helper

Claim Helper is a browser extension for Chrome. It lets you copy your invoice details from Hai Helper and paste them straight into the claim form.

  • No retyping. Your invoice details are ready to paste.
  • You stay in control. Hai Helper never submits a claim for you. You check and submit every claim yourself.
  • Keep track. Add your claim reference to each spend so you can match payments later.
  • Start straight away. Claim Helper works as soon as you sign up, before you add your plan.

Keep your records right

Keep invoices and records for at least 3 years, or 5 years if you are a plan nominee. Hai Helper keeps each invoice with its spend, so it is easy to find if the NDIA asks.
